Keira Amstutz has been selected to be the new president and CEO of the Indiana Humanities Council, effective April 14th. Keira has a strong arts and humanities background including leading Indianapolis's Cultural Development Initiative.

The IHC is thrilled to to bring her passion for cultural programming to one of the country's oldest and most respected state humanities councils.

IHC Grant Deadline

The Indiana Humanities Council is pleased to announce its 2008 Grant guidelines. This year we are offering special priority to all requests for grant funding for programs that address our 2008 theme of immigration.

The next (and last) grant deadline is September 15th. Mark your calendars to give yourself plenty of time.

A. GRANT PURPOSE

To support educational programs related to historic properties in Indiana.

These grants are the result of a partnership between the Indiana Humanities Council and the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana.

B. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

1. General Criteria

To be eligible for any grant from the Indiana Humanities Council, an applicant must be a not-for-profit organization with tax-exempt status. Grants will not be made to individuals. Applicants for Historic Preservation Education Grants must submit the mandatory prospectus form by the March 3, 2008 postmark deadline.

Indiana Humanities Council grants will NOT be made for any of the following purposes:

C. PROPOSAL CRITERIA AND GRANT DESCRIPTIONS

Each proposal must meet the following criteria. These will be used to evaluate, rate, and rank the grant.

1. Projects must fall within the scope of the Historic Preservation Education Grant program, which focuses on educational programs related to historic structures in Indiana.

2. Project goals must be of importance to the local community or to the state.

3. Projects must include a preservation expert in implementation and planning. Program personnel must have the necessary qualifications and skills to carry out the project.

4. Projects must be intended for a public or school audience. Although sponsoring organizations may design programs for target audiences, the programs must be accessible to people outside of the organization's membership.

5. Projects must be presented in a site that is accessible according to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
