Keira Amstutz has been selected to be the new president and CEO of the Indiana Humanities Council, effective April 14th. Keira has a strong arts and humanities background including leading Indianapolis's Cultural Development Initiative.

The IHC is thrilled to to bring her passion for cultural programming to one of the country's oldest and most respected state humanities councils.

IHC Grant Deadline

The Indiana Humanities Council is pleased to announce its 2008 Grant guidelines. This year we are offering special priority to all requests for grant funding for programs that address our 2008 theme of immigration.

The next (and last) grant deadline is September 15th. Mark your calendars to give yourself plenty of time.

JIM PAVLIK

Jim Pavlik received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Ball State University in 1997 with minors in Creative Writing, Philosophy, and Japanese. After a brief sojourn in San Diego, California he returned to Indianapolis to work at IDG Books (now John Wiley Publishing).

In his spare time he co-founded The Brownsburg Community Theater and directed two plays with them: Much Ado about Nothing and The Glass Menagerie. Later he was founding member, Features editor, and a writer for Forum for Animal Rights, a local newspaper.

In August 2005 Jim returned to school full time. He graduated in December of 07 with Bachelors of Arts in Spanish, Philosophy, and International Studies.

He is also a poet and eighth-rate harmonica player. He has had poems published in the mtCup Revue and The Flying Island. and in the IUPUI literary arts magazine, Genesis.
