Project Coordinator -- Humanities at the Crossroads

Location: Greencastle, IN

Description: Humanities at the Crossroads (HAC), a multi-year initiative designed to explore the situation and future of the humanities, will commission research to examine where the humanities have been since 1965, including the state of Indiana as a case study, and convene leaders from humanities constituencies nationally to better define the role of the humanities in the twenty-first century. HAC seeks a Project Coordinator to advance its aims. This position is a .75 FTE 2-year term appointment to start as soon as possible and with the possibility of extension beyond the 2 years.

Duties:

Collaborate with executive committee and advisors to develop and implement Indiana case study of the humanities, as well as complementary national studies as needed, and to organize 2013 conference.

Write grant proposals and grant reports.

Report regularly to executive and advisory committees.

Generate and monitor project budgets.

Help to assemble and coordinate research teams.

Coordinate and edit team writing for presentation to advisors and conferees.

Participate in planning and implementing 2013 conference, as assigned.

Other duties that may arise necessary to the functioning of HAC.

Qualifications:

Terminal graduate degree close or in hand, preferably Ph.D. in humanities field.
In Indiana or willing to relocate.
Exemplary writing skills for communication to multiple audiences.
Digital and new media experience and fluency.
Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
Strong collaborative skills--able and interested to work well with others.
Self-motivated individual with ability to manage several projects simultaneously with minimal day-to-day supervision.
Interest in thinking broadly about the future of the humanities in American and global society.
