TYLER MUENINCH EXHIBIT AT IHC
Tyler Mueninch graciously offered to be the first Hoosier artist to exhibit his artwork at the IHC offices in the historic Meredith Nicholson house and they have been a wonderful addition to our parlor, library, and dining room since June 6, 2008.
In these pieces Mueninch applies a restricted palette of browns and grays to what might be termed "anti-landmarks"--features of the urban cityscape that often don't draw the eye but nevertheless form the basis for how we see and think about our surroundings.
Mueninch's subject are grainy, deliberately out of focus, and sit resolutely off-center. His paintings are reminiscent of memories we might have of old photographs and in that way they convey a sense of an unsentimental nostalgia. The viewer strains to see the subjects more clearly through the haze of memory and regrets not having paid closer attention when it was possible.
In equal parts comforting and provocative, Mueninch's pieces offer something for the casual or cerebral art connosieur.
The Meredith Nicholson home is at 1500 N. Delaware Street in Indianapolis' beautiful Old Northside neighborhood, just north of the Benjamin Harrison home and across the street from the Harrison Center. Office hours are 9-5 Monday through Friday. Feel free to stop by and enjoy the exhibition.
The pieces are all for sale. Please contact Jim Pavlik for details.
