Event Details

After discovering an extraordinary quilt from Connecticut—known as the 1876 Centennial Quilt—in an online quilt history forum and securing permission from its owner, a quilt group from northwest Washington state began the journey of patterning it. The 1876 Centennial Quilt is set in a unique medallion-style arrangement and contains over 70 individual block patterns. The quiltmakers from Washington created new quilts that skillfully and beautifully interpreted the 1876 Centennial Quilt, and their pieces represent a wide variety of styles. As the quiltmakers honed their skills, they learned much about themselves and forged lasting friendships. This exhibition, curated by Anne Dawson of the Quilter’s Studio, displays 14 of the quilts they made as well as the original 1876 Centennial Quilt that they interpreted. They invite you to enjoy their quilts, read their stories and begin your own journey with the 1876 Centennial Quilt.

The exhibition is open to the public during the Quilters Hall of Fame’s regular hours, Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and students, and free for children under 12 who are accompanied by an adult.
