The Indiana MultiEthnic Committee, Purdue Extension Marion County and the Indiana Humanities Council, are pleased to announce that registration for the 2nd Indiana MultiEthnic Conference, “Building Indiana’s 21st Century Communities” is now open.
This year’s conference will also include a community supper on Sunday, April 25, from 5-8 p.m., called “Breaking Bread: Building Community.” Open to both conference attendees and the general public, the supper will be a celebration of food and cultures from around the globe and an opportunity to share and sample the cultures reflected at our state’s table.
The conference, to be held on Monday, April 26, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. is three-fold in its goals. The first is to share opportunities to make our state more welcoming for diverse groups. The second is to enable elected officials, business and community leaders throughout the state to learn, educate and celebrate multiethnic opportunities; to learn about various cultures represented in Indiana and identify the challenges and advantages of a multiethnic state. And finally, it is an educational campaign to educate Hoosiers about multiethnic Indiana.
The conference will be largely focused on the economic and business aspects of multiethnicity, but will also bring awareness about the countries represented in Indiana. Governor Daniels will provide the keynote address.
The Indiana MultiEthnic Conference Committee members hope attendees will learn and share initiatives in the work place and in their communities to make Indiana more welcoming. Listen to why they think you should attend.
This year’s conference will be held at Sheridan Indianapolis Hotel & Suites located at 8797 Keystone Crossing Indianapolis, IN 46240.
Registration deadline: April 16
Cost: $50 for the conference/$65 for the conference and pre-conference community supper/$30 for student admission to the conference/$45 for student admission to the conference and pre-conference community supper/ $25 for the pre-conference community supper only.

These three organizations and 30 other partners have met since to make the state of Indiana a more welcoming place for diverse groups. |
