Indiana Multiethnic Conference


Indiana Humanities, Purdue Extension-Marion County and the Indiana MultiEthnic Committee invite you to attend the Second Indiana MultiEthnic Conference and the Breaking Bread: Building Community Pre Conference Celebration.

Breaking Bread: Building Community (Sunday, April 25, 2010) will be a celebration of food and cultures from around the world which reflect our state’s tapestry. (See the menu, right.)

The Second Indiana MultiEthnic Conference (Monday, April 26, 2010) will give you the opportunity to be a part of panel discussions, engaging workshops and networking that will give you tools and ideas to help you and your organizations/groups build and understand Indiana’s 21st century communities.

The conference will be largely focused on the economic and business aspects of multiethnicity, but will also bring awareness about the countries represented in Indiana. The Indiana MultiEthnic Conference Committee members hope attendees will learn and share initiatives in the work place and in their communities to make Indiana more welcoming.

This year’s conference will be held at Sheridan Indianapolis Hotel & Suites located at 8797 Keystone Crossing, Indianapolis. Breaking Bread will be held at the Gene B. Glick Junior Achievement Education Center, 7435 N. Keystone Ave., Indianapolis.

Registration deadline: April 22 
Cost: $50 for the conference/$65 for the conference and pre-conference community supper/$30 for student admission to the conference/$45 for student admission to the conference and pre-conference community supper/ $25 for the pre-conference community supper only.

Indiana Humanities is providing scholarships to those who are interested and need financial assistance. Visit www.indianamultiethnic.org/scholarships.html to fill out an application and submit it electronically by March 26. Recipients will be notified by April 10.

The Indiana MultiEthnic Committee was created in 2006 under the leadership of Governor Mitch Daniel’s office of Multicultural Relations and the Indiana Civil Rights Commission in conjunction with the Purdue Extension office in Marion County. These three organizations and 30 other partners have met since to make the state of Indiana a more welcoming place for diverse groups.
