Corn, as many Hoosiers know, is essential to the history of people’s relationship with agriculture. After years of preparation, the Indiana State Museum will debut an exhibit called Amazing Maize: The Science, History, and Culture of Corn this Sept. 24, 2011. The exhibit will last until Jan. 20, 2013 and hopes to enlighten museum goers about the “10,000-year global journey” of the most productive domesticated crop of all time.
Visitors should expect to better understand what makes corn such a fascinating plant, and why it is so significant culturally, historically, and economically. Because corn is such a productive and versatile crop, the exhibit is able to provide illumination on a wide variety of issues and topics; in other words, visitors will be “a-maized.”
The exhibit is supported by Dow AgroSciences, Ford Motor Company, and Case IH.
